Fully Accepted, Never Rejected
Acceptance is something we all long for and hope for in some way, shape or form in this World. Every person on this Earth wants someone to look at them with genuine affection and love them completely. There have been times in my life that I felt like I couldn’t be myself entirely in certain situations. I felt like I couldn’t be my most real version of myself. I was unable to be the actual person I was without pretense because of a fear of rejection. I didn’t want to be judged harshly by my peers. It was in these spaces that I tended to measure man’s gauges of who I should be by how God might see me. The weight of feeling less than made me hide from Him.
I know that you are thinking, “You can’t hide from God.” (Hebrew 4:13) You would absolutely be telling the truth. He sees all. He knows it all. He is God. At the same time, it is in our natural DNA (from my forefather Adam) to hide when we feel uncomfortable or vulnerable. I am not exempt from knowing these emotions all too well. There would be moments when I knew God was telling me to let Him into the innermost parts of my heart and I would shut down. I would hear the Lord speak through His Word to me and I would disregard it. Not from a place of arrogance, but from a place of fear. I was afraid if God saw my brokenness, He would change His mind about me. He would see me as damaged goods and decide that I was a mistake.
I recall a time not too long ago when I was reflecting on an extremely difficult season in my life. I felt like I had taken more losses than wins. I looked at some of the decisions I made and I shook my head. Internally, I was chiding myself. I wondered why would God want to use someone who made such silly choices? Why would He continue to walk with someone who made these terrible mistakes? I pondered why on Earth was He so willing to accept me? That’s when it hit me. No matter what I do, God already knew I would and decided I was worth saving anyway.(Romans 11:15) I may struggle to accept myself, but God sees me through the eyes of Jesus and I am not broken. I am not pitiful. I am not discarded. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. (2 Cor. 5:21) I am fully healed and whole. I have hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
I am not damaged beyond repair. As a matter of fact, the blood of Jesus repaired me before I even made it to this Earth. (1 Timothy 1:15, Ephesians 1:6) All I had to do was accept what was being given. My denial from man has absolutely nothing to do with my approval from God. My disapproval of myself was or will ever be how God views me. He sees me better than I could ever see myself. He is well aware of who I was, am and will be but is already at the end reminding me to keep coming towards Him. His arms are open to receive me happily. He doesn’t keep telling me about the mistakes I made. I have already been freed from those past things. He just keeps showing me how much He wants and desires to be with me.
I am perfectly and fully embraced. I can not ever say this enough. This is a revelation that has taken me my entire life to understand. It has taken me multiple valleys and wilderness experiences to see that God was always here for me. He never left me. It has taken me times of doubt and confusion to see more clearly than ever that I don’t have to hide. I don’t have to run away. I can be my most authentic self in the presence of God. His Spirit clothes my emotional, spiritual and mental nakedness. God cannot deny Himself. He is the God who heals the broken-hearted. He binds up our wounds (Ps.147:3). He is literally drawn to those who see the need for a Savior. For those who see the need for The Savior, Jesus Christ, is He fixated on specifically.
That being said, the same applies to you if you are reading this blog. Whether you’ve just heard this for the first time or you need a reminder. God made space for you. God made a place for you. God has reconciled you to Himself. You no longer have to be anxious about finding someone who understands you and approves of you. God already does. He is just waiting for you to accept Him. Will you do that? Will you concede to Him? Will you allow Him to abide in your heart? He is saying for you to Come to Him. He is more than able to take you into Himself. You can be engrafted into the Body of Christ if you desire. Just say yes. You are fully accepted; never rejected.
Let’s pray: Thank You for accepting me. Thank You for embracing me fully. Thank You for seeing me for who I truly am. You know me and still want me. You desire a relationship with me no matter how much I feel unworthy. I thank You for all that you are to me. You never rejected me. You always accept me. I love You because You first loved me. Thank You Lord. Amen.
If you are reading this and have never accepted Jesus as Your Lord and Savior this is the time. If you have once walked with God, but you have strayed away, here is your moment. There will never be a more ideal time than now to surrender your life to the One who loves you most. He wants to call you out of darkness into His marvelous light. No strings attached. No hidden motives. He just wants a relationship with you. If this is you please say the prayer below.
Sinner’s Prayer: Lord, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. He died on the cross just for me. I also confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that He rose again on the 3rd day, paying my sin debt in full. He is now seated at the right hand of power, interceding for me to the Father. I thank You, Jesus, that as I pray this prayer and believe with my heart that You have saved me. I receive Your love and commit my life to You. You are now the Lord of my life. Thank You for all that You have done and will do for me in the future. In Jesus name, Amen.
