Labor To Rest

In this season God has challenged me to use my time wisely. In using my time, I feel compelled to learn to listen to my body. I've learned that in order to achieve anything productive you have to sleep and learn to rest. I've struggled with the idea that when others have expectations of me that I should be influenced or swayed away from what I value or see as a priority. I just have to seek Him to know where EVERYTHING needs to go in my life. Our bodies were made to perform best when fully rested. According to science, most adults need to have at least 7 hours of sleep at night. Countless studies have shown that failure to rest can cause a myriad of health problems. When one gets adequate sleep they can concentrate and focus. Quality sleep is restorative both mentally and physically.       Our culture tells us that, if we do decide to rest it is considered being lazy. The problem with this logic is that God created us to engage in intentional peri...

God of Justice

“A god who is all love, all grace, all mercy, no sovereignty, no justice, no holiness, and no wrath is an idol.” — R.C. Sproul      We talk a lot about the love, kindness, grace and mercy of God. It is to the point, I believe we fail to realize that God is also the God of Justice. He wants to see all things made right, but it is in the manner in which He still offers grace and mercy. This doesn't take away the fact that He wants everyone to understand His order. In 1 Corinthians 14:33 it states, "For God is not a God of disorder but of peace as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people." (NIV)      God takes justice so seriously that he tells us explicitly, that vengeance belongs solely to Him that whatever is right He will repay. (Rom. 12:9, Heb. 10:30, Deut. 32:35) This comforts me in the fact that I don’t have to take things into my own hands when I have been wronged. Whether it is a natural person that the enemy uses or he directly attacks me, I fig...

Big Plans

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.  Psalm 37:23 (KJV)        From the time I was a little girl up until college, I had plans. Some of them were predetermined in my life by others, but all of them were good plans. I was taught to dream big and try to pursue my dreams to the best of my ability. To be honest, I thought that life would just come alongside me and we would work together. I was idealistic at best. When my life started to change in directions I didn’t want to go, I began to question my plans altogether.       Sometimes, I look back and wonder if things had gone another way at this or that point in my life would I have been in a different place? When I would think too long about where I was versus where I wanted to be and I would become a little downcast. In all transparency, our society teaches that having: social status, material goods, wealth, and accomplishments are all that matter. I wi...

The Power of One

The number one is powerful. I know there is strength in numbers, but even that starts with one. One action can brighten someone’s day. One word spoken can change the way someone feels. One thought can change how you behave. One person can change the world. One habit can change your entire life. One vision can bring your purpose into fruition. Finally there is only One way to the Father. If you don't believe me, look at some examples of one.        One Action: The Trinity said let us make man in our image and our likeness and we were created. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:26‭-‬27  It was a thought that turn...
