God Lit the Flame to my Soul

Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. Isaiah 60:1 (KJV)     I have been in a place lately where I have to admit that I am not the same person today that I was yesterday. I will not be the same tomorrow as I am today. I am not saying this to be cliche', but I see myself differently daily. If you know anything about my story and all that I have been through it is visible that something is not the same. Things have changed. I have changed. At the end of the day, I am convinced that I know why.      For years, I struggled with depression. I dealt with the sadness of loss. I have experienced the heartbreak of grief. I was in that place for a long time. I can honestly say that I didn't see any light at the end of the tunnel. Even though the Word of God said that I was the light of the world; I felt like I was barely flickering. (Matt. 5:14) It felt like I was never going to see anything, but the darkness surrounding me. I...

Your Faith Has Made You Whole

Broken people accept broken things. This includes, but is not limited to dysfunctional friendships, fragments of relationships, subpar jobs, and substandard living. I'm not saying that everyone who is in this place either wants to be there or deserves it. I'm saying that sometimes unbeknownst to ourselves we settle there because we're broken. We settle there because we aren't whole.       I can only speak for myself, but as God is increasing my faith (confidence and trust) in Him, it's making me completely reassess where I am. I'm taking inventory of myself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. He's shedding light on places that have otherwise been overlooked, forgotten and maybe even ignored on my part. This wasn't intentional. I've come to see that my faith is at times tried. My faith is showing me things that I've never seen before. That's when I see Hebrews 11:1 at work in my life. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance ...

Leading with Love

So lately, the phrase I have been hearing in my spirit is that we should all be “leading with love”. Now what exactly does that mean? Well how I understand it is, that this means  love should be the way you start and finish everything. Since God is love (1 John 4:8b)   that basically means that His attributes and characteristics should be what takes precedence over everything else. In the New King James version, 1 Corinthians 16:14 it says,  “Let all that you do be done with love.” What kinds of characteristics does love exhibit? 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says this:  Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (New International Version)      I have truly fel...

Glowing Up with God

What does the phrase “glow up” mean? Well according to Wiktionary it is: A major and impressive transformation in appearance, talent, power, etc. Then according to the Collins English Dictionary it is a: phrasal verb. If you say that someone glows up, you mean that they become more mature, confident, and attractive. [US, informal]      A lot of you who are reading this know some of my story, if not all of it. You know I've come a long way from where I used to be. It's been a journey physically, mentally, emotionally, but most of all spiritually. I've been saved almost my entire life and yet I started to wrestle with a works-based faith. This doctrine I held locked me under critical restrictions that led to condemnation. It was one that said I had to be perfect. I could make no mistakes, at least no major ones. If I wasn't perfect then surely God wouldn't love me, want me or care about me.      This mindset didn't really become evident to me until I began...

My Priority

"Nobody's life is ever all balanced. It's a conscious decision to choose your priorities every day". - Quote by Elisabeth Hasselbeck      It's interesting that the more we have, the more time it takes for us to maintain it. It becomes harder and harder for us to fit in our hobbies and even people in the way we used to. Time is a resource. If we aren't careful, we will struggle to even have time for God.       I realize that life is hectic, chaotic and downright busy at times. Regardless, we make time for the things that we want or are of our utmost priority. When you love something or someone you will find a way to share what you have no matter how big or small with them.       As the seasons change in my life, I've had to do an internal self-check often. Am I giving the Lover of my soul attention? Is God a priority? Am I praying regularly? Am I making it a habit to read my Word? Am I being intentional in my giving? How about my chu...

Lesson Learned - God will never leave

10/29/2022 Lesson Learned - God Will Never Leave     First of all, it has been over 10 years since I have posted anything and in the time I have become such a different person. I wanted to say that life is about learning and growing. Circumstances in life can make someone bitter or better. I have gone through so much in the last 10-11 years. Some good and some things not so good. One take-away for me has been that you will repeat any lesson you don't grasp the first time. I have learned through these situations. They have tried me by fire. I don't always understand the reason why God has allowed me to experience the condtions that I thought would break me and even take me out. The truth is at the end of the day it is only His grace that I am still here. That is one of the greatest lessons that I have learned. Seond one is that, He will NEVER leave me nor forsake me.      When anyone who professes to know God goes through a rough season, we sometimes q...
