Your Faith Has Made You Whole
Broken people accept broken things. This includes, but is not limited to dysfunctional friendships, fragments of relationships, subpar jobs, and substandard living. I'm not saying that everyone who is in this place either wants to be there or deserves it. I'm saying that sometimes unbeknownst to ourselves we settle there because we're broken. We settle there because we aren't whole.
I can only speak for myself, but as God is increasing my faith (confidence and trust) in Him, it's making me completely reassess where I am. I'm taking inventory of myself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. He's shedding light on places that have otherwise been overlooked, forgotten and maybe even ignored on my part. This wasn't intentional. I've come to see that my faith is at times tried. My faith is showing me things that I've never seen before. That's when I see Hebrews 11:1 at work in my life. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (KJV) Quiet as it's kept, there are times when you do your best and you still find yourself someplace you never intended to be. That's when faith circles you back to God. It teaches you that you can only be who God calls you to be through Him and in the willingness to believe on Him. See Hebrews 11:6, says "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." ( (NIV)
As I was praying about what this blog should say, the Lord brought to my mind about the woman with the issue of blood. You can find this story in Mark 5:25-34 respectively. Most of us know the story. A woman had a feminine issue with her body that kept her bleeding needlessly. This had gone on for 12 years. She spent all the money she had with the doctors and no one had a cure for her problem. In the NIV translation, it says not only did she spend her money without results, but her bleeding had gotten worse - not better. For every woman reading this you already know how painful, uncomfortable and downright embarrassing this must have been for this woman.
The thing that always stands out to me is that she would not fully give up. She heard about Jesus, the Rabbi, who heals and she decided that if she could just touch His clothes that would heal her body. He could make her whole. As a matter of fact, her faith not only healed her, but caused Jesus to stop what He was doing to see whose touch pulled virtue out of His body. Sometimes even when we don't realize it our faith motivates us. It drives us to call out to God once more for help. It will compel us to try Him at His Word. Finally, our faith moves God.
The best part of the passage is the part where Jesus tells this woman that her faith has made her whole. She's completely healed and delivered! When I think of that woman I think of myself. I've been through some fires and some storms, but I knew if I could get close enough to Jesus, He could heal me, set me free and make me whole. There's been a part of me that always says that, I can't quit. It's hard, but I can give up. I have to hang on just a little while longer. I've hung in and on occasion just barely. I say all this to encourage you that your faith will place youin line made whole. Just don't give up. Reach out and touch Jesus by faith. It's already done.
Let's pray right now: Father, God as we come to you in prayer, we ask you to do something miraculous in us. Give us the mustard seed faith. Give us that faith to move mountains. God we believe; help our unbelief. Lord, we reach out to touch the hem of your garment to get our healing. Lord, if it's mental, emotional, spiritual, or physical we receive it from you by faith. Make us whole like you did the woman in Mark chapter 5. We are trusting you and believing that it's done. We are walking by faith and not by sight. Thank you Lord. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
