Faithful is Our God

No matter what, God shows up. He's loyal, dependable, steadfast and true. There's never a time that God hasn't come through. I will say that there have been times He hasn't come through the way I wanted Him to, but He has been there all the time. In previous blogs I've covered His love, grace, goodness and mercy so now I branch over into His faithfulness. If I'm being honest, all I want to do is break down the height, length, depth, and width of God's love. (Ephesians 3:18-19)

For me, consistency is everything. Despite this being a simple concept of doing what you say you will do, very few people follow through. These days people don’t know how to keep their word. There is no such thing as integrity. I can attest in my life personally, that I haven’t found this quality in many places. People will tell you that they will always be there, but when life gets tough or things look better elsewhere, they will abandon you. God isn’t like this at ALL. Being faithful is who He is. 2 Timothy 2:13 says,”If we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.”(ESV)  He is as faithful a friend as any you would ever find. In fact He's even more dependable than that. If He says it, you can take it to the bank and cash it like a cashier's check. Hebrews 10:23 tells us that we can hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering because for He who promised is faithful. (ESV) That’s God.

When I look in awe of who God is. He is loyal to a fault. He doesn’t waver in how He comes through for us. He doesn’t cease to help us against the enemy. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 says, ”But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” (ESV) I can tell you from experience that God never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:8) I am so moved by the fact that the God of Heaven is so inclined to listen to my cry and answer me (Psalm 18:9, Psalm 34:4). I am so inspired that when I reach up like a small child for one of their parents, He reaches down to grab me. It amazes me that when I need God to do the impossible, it’s nothing for Him to make it happen. (Matthew 19:26)

In the faithfulness of God’s character is how we are able to enter into a place of fellowship through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 1:9). God created a space where we could come full circle back to Him. The sin of Adam separated us from Him, but He is so good. (Romans 5:12) He sent Jesus, the only begotten Son, to save us (John 3:16). Thereby Jesus bridged the gap between God and man. We can only partake because God made a way for us. Jesus took our place and gave us through His blood the opportunity to know the Father more intimately. He is the way. (John 14:6)

Jesus was faithful in His commitment to be the ultimate sacrifice. He knew how hard it would be to take on the sins of the World, but He did it anyway. He told the Father not my will, but your will be done (Luke 22:42). Jesus endured pain, shame, hardship and torture all because He wanted us to experience what we would never receive otherwise. (Hebrews 12:2) How many of us could look at mankind and decide to sacrifice themselves for them? To be fair, we can hardly extend ourselves in a small way, let alone in any capacity like that.

As I get to know the true nature of God more intimately, I see that with the Lord is where I want to be more often. I want to be in the space when I know I can depend on the other person in the relationship. I have been in enough one-sided friendships, romantic connections and work relationships to know that isn’t what I desire. I have experienced more than my fair share of disloyalty to know that in God’s presence is where I am full. I am safe. I am nurtured. I am nourished. I am loved. So if you long for someone to come through, show up and that you can depend on - then look no further. Faithful is Our God.

Let's pray: Lord, we ask that You show us Your faithfulness in a special way. So many times we have been disappointed by those who say they loved and cared for us. They let us down, Lord. This made us believe everyone would do the same thing. Lord, You are NOT like man. You are not a man that You should lie nor the son of man that You would repent (Numbers 23:19). You don’t change Your mind about us. You never have and You never will. Help us to embrace Your faithfulness even when we don’t feel worthy. Helps us through Your grace to lean into depending solely on You. Lord, You take pleasure in being loyal to us. You take joy in showing us Your true nature. Enable us to receive the gifts that You have for us. We thank You for being consistent. We place our trust in Your Word. We thank you for always being a faithful God, Father and friend. Thank you Jesus for being a faithful Son, servant and King. Holy Spirit, thank you for being a faithful Helper, Comforter, Guide and Companion. Thank You God for Your personhood. You remain faithful throughout the generations. Amen.

If you are reading this and have never accepted Jesus as Your Lord and Savior this is the time. If you have once walked with God, but you have strayed away, here is your moment. There will never be a more ideal time than now to surrender your life to the One who loves you most. He wants to call you out of darkness into His marvelous light. No strings attached. No hidden motives. He just wants a relationship with you. If this is you please say the prayer below.

Sinner’s Prayer: Lord, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. He died on the cross just for me. I also confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that He rose again on the 3rd day, paying my sin debt in full. He is now seated at the right hand of power, interceding for me to the Father. I thank You, Jesus, that as I pray this prayer and believe with my heart that You have saved me. I receive Your love and commit my life to You. You are now the Lord of my life. Thank You for all that You have done and will do for me in the future. In Jesus name, Amen.

Faithful is our God! I hate to admit that I have put trust in men, things that were tangible. For they failed each time. BUT, GOD!!!! My God never fails. HE is always on time!
