There's A Plot Twist

“Your life is nothing more than a love story. Between you and God. Nothing more. Every person, every experience, every gift, every loss, every pain is sent to your path for one reason and one reason only: to bring you back to Him.”— Yasmin Mogahed

In every good story you can bet on one thing, the plot will twist. It is what makes the tale interesting. Any good book has some turns, unexpected events and twists that keep you reading. Your story isn't any different. It is all going to work out for your good. Romans 8:28 tells us this clearly. God doesn’t want you to give up on your dreams. There is a reason your dream is bigger than some. This is because He has a plan for you. (Jeremiah 29:11) The narrative can and will change without warning. One day you will wake up and EVERYTHING that happened before will make sense. God fully intends to show you what He can do in your life. He will withhold no good thing from you when you walk upright before Him. (Psalm 84:11)  Dare I mention that, He gives good and perfect gifts. (James 1:7)

I ALWAYS speak about seasons. I do it in hopes that I can remind someone that they change rapidly. I live in the Midwest. In my particular area of the country, you can experience everything from Fall, Winter, and Spring to Summer in one day. In Ecclesiastes chapter 3 verse 1 states that everything has a season. The entire chapter goes on to tell you all the seasons that unfold. I am telling you without a doubt in my mind that this season is yours. Hold on to the Word of God with all that you have by faith.

I want to encourage you to look at every prolific figure in the Bible. They all have one thing in common about their chronicles; God put a plot twist in it! Think about Joseph and how his life took turns that were so unexpected. He ended up telling his brothers that what they meant for evil, God used it for his good. (Genesis 50:20) Look at Ruth, when she lost her husband, followed her mother in law and ended up living a wonderful life with Boaz in the end. When you examine Job’s story, his account took more twists than a little. In the end, God got the glory out of his testimony. Or what about Queen Esther? She was an orphan that was elevated to a position of royalty where she was then used to preserve the lives of her people.

Most importantly, look at the life of Jesus. He came, lived, and died, but that wasn’t the end of the story. He rose again and paid our sin debt. If that isn’t a plot twist then I don’t know what is. People underestimated Jesus. The devil underestimated Jesus. What ended up happening changed the course of History. Revelation 1:18 says, “And the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.” (ESV) Jesus took back the keys to Hell, death and even the Earth for the sake of mankind.

My encouragement to you is that you need to hold on just a little while longer. Don’t give up. 2 Corinthians 4:16, “ So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self[a] is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.”(ESV) You are going to make it no matter what things look like.  You're not as far away from the change as you think. Even if you are looking at the opposition, it isn’t bigger than your God. Rest assured that nothing is impossible with God. (Luke 1:37) Keep in mind that your plot twist is here and the wind can be blowing in a different direction in your life. Don’t put the book of your life down before you get to the end. Spoiler alert: YOU WIN!

Let’s pray: Father we pray in Jesus name that you give us the encouragement to hold on when we feel like letting go. Give us the strength to endure until the end. Give us the faith to walk with you no matter what comes our way. Lord, we trust that you are writing our story and that there is a plot-twist. In the midst of the storm we confess that you are bigger than anything we could ever imagine. We declare that everything is working for our good. (Romans 8:28) Father, we place our complete trust in your Word. We walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7) Thank you Lord in Jesus name. Amen.

If you are reading this and have never accepted Jesus as Your Lord and Savior this is the time. If you have once walked with God, but you have strayed away, here is your moment. There will never be a more ideal time than now to surrender your life to the One who loves you most. He wants to call you out of darkness into His marvelous light. No strings attached. No hidden motives. He just wants a relationship with you. If this is you please say the prayer below.

Sinner’s Prayer: Lord, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. He died on the cross just for me. I also confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that He rose again on the 3rd day, paying my sin debt in full. He is now seated at the right hand of power, interceding for me to the Father. I thank You, Jesus, that as I pray this prayer and believe with my heart that You have saved me. I receive Your love and commit my life to You. You are now the Lord of my life. Thank You for all that You have done and will do for me in the future. In Jesus name, Amen.
