You Deserve the Good Stuff
You must be willing to do what others won’t do, to have what others won’t have. — Les Brown
In this blog I ponder this thought because it seems to come up so often in many discussions that I have had with people who don’t share this vision. For whatever reason they have it in their minds that because they are comfortable in a certain place and living a certain way that you should be also. I have some people in my life who are willing to encourage and see the picture of something bigger than I could have even imagined myself. Then there are others in my life that cannot see past where I am and think that I should settle. They say that I am doing too much and want more than I should. The problem is that to live differently than one once did, requires faith and hope. This is a faith and the hope that God will do what He promises to do.
Oftentimes there can even be the argument that a person is getting “too big” for their britches or that their standards are too high. In all fairness, there is a line in which one can cross over into having an attitude of looking down on others for having less. This arrogant train of thought is ungodly. This is not the kind of attitude I am referring to in this instance. I am talking about a confident attitude that says, “I will see the Goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” (Psalms 27:13) I double down on the fact that God has given me a longing to live better and show those around me that God still does what man could never do. I have standards that align with God’s Word and I won’t back down.” From time to time, I have been told I was high fullooting or that I was bougie about specific areas in my life. I have been told that my expectations are too high and that I ask for too much. Even in some relationships I have been called high maintenance. The truth is that I just believe that with man these things might very well be impossible, but with God ALL things are possible when you take Him at His Word. (Matt. 19:26) Since God is my provider then why not live as well as God says that I can?
I want to tell you that God wants more for you than what you could ever imagine for yourself (Ephesians 3:20) He doesn’t think that you are too much. You are not too difficult for Him to handle. Your desire for activating your faith to the next level is not strange. There is nothing wrong with yearning to live out every promise God has given. There is nothing bad about wanting to live a supernaturally blessed life. God wants you to see just how much He can prosper your life, heart, mind, family, friends, business, ministry, and anything else you go to do. In the same vein, don’t allow doubters to make you question your faith. God has people set aside to lift you up. When He sends the right people into your life they will not feel like you are a burden. I say all this to drive the point that as I walk out my relationship with Jesus, I see more clearly that wanting more and standing on the promises of the Word is nothing to be ashamed of. As I step into a new season of desiring to live my life abundantly through Christ, there is a shift in how I see my circumstances (John 10:10). Remember this one thing…You deserve the good stuff.
Let’s Pray: Lord, help me to remember that You want me to be blessed. You said that if I were willing and obedient that I could eat the good of the land. (Isaiah 1:19). You told me that You have plans to prosper me and to give hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11) You called me to prosper and be in health even as my soul prospers. (3 John 1:2) Lord, I seeds of doubt placed in my heart by those who don’t have the same faith. I replace those with the strength of Your Word. I will walk by faith and not by sight. (2 Cor. 5:7) I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. (Psalms 27:13) In all these things I am more than a conqueror through You because You love me. (Romans 8:37) Finally Lord, I confess that I believe that even the impossible things are possible in You. (Matthew 19:26) Thank you Lord that this confession lines up with Your Word that I believe. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
If you are reading this and have never accepted Jesus as Your Lord and Savior this is the time. If you have once walked with God, but you have strayed away, here is your moment. There will never be a more ideal time than now to surrender your life to the One who loves you most. He wants to call you out of darkness into His marvelous light. No strings attached. No hidden motives. He just wants a relationship with you. If this is you please say the prayer below.
Sinner’s Prayer: Lord, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. He died on the cross just for me. I also confess with my mouth and believe with my heart that He rose again on the 3rd day, paying my sin debt in full. He is now seated at the right hand of power, interceding for me to the Father. I thank You, Jesus, that as I pray this prayer and believe with my heart that You have saved me. I receive Your love and commit my life to You. You are now the Lord of my life. Thank You for all that You have done and will do for me in the future. In Jesus name, Amen.
